Breathing in Pilates!
Why you should not hold your breath,
Holding the breath creates pressure in the muscles and spinal cord, changes the heart rate and the temperature of the body.
Place your hands on either side of your rib cage. Take a deep breath and let the space between your hands widen to the sides (creating a large space in the middle). ...
This breath is steady and deep on the inhale and percussive (forced) on the exhale.
You should be able to feel your abdominal muscles forcing air out of your lungs during the inhalation.
This technique allows you to breathe without moving any
part of your body. Breathing in and out occurs without much movement in the rib cage or belly.
