Meditation is good for the brain (Dr. Steven Laureys)

I've just discovered Dr. Steven Laureys (neurologist), internationally recognized for his scientific study of the brain, neuroplasticity and consciousness.

He is the author of 500 scientific articles and has published several scientific books, including "La méditation, c'est bon pour le cerveau" ("Meditation is good for the brain").

Here's the book summary.

In this book, he explains the effects of meditation on our body and mind. Through the brain research of Matthieu Ricard (Tibetan Buddhist), he shows us how meditation stimulates and positively alters brain function. But you don't have to be a Buddhist monk or a neurologist to experience the positive changes of meditation.

The resulting benefits for our mental health:

- less stress ,

- a better night's sleep,

- more concentration,

- less anxiety,

- antidepressant and pain-relieving effects

are within everyone's reach.

"Empathy, compassion and gratitude activate specific areas of the brain. They make you happy. Giving to others, connecting, sharing are all essential to your self-fulfillment" Matthieu Ricard
