A very nice testimony from Sébastien Thery (French, European and World Champion in track cycling) with whom I had the opportunity to discuss at length the practice of Pilates.

"To follow up on long exchanges with Véronique, I would like to share my experience of pilates in the context of competitive sports.

In fact, as I practice at an international level in the age group category (French, European and world champion in track cycling), I wanted, at a certain point in my career, to find ways to complete my physical preparation and cycling-specific training in order to improve my performance and limit my risk of injury.

I quickly integrated the practice of Pilates, supervised by an experienced professional, at the frequency of a weekly session.

This weekly Pilates session allowed me to significantly improve my posture and proprioception, thus improving my squat performance (approx. +20%) and my time on the bike.

I have recommended this practice to competitive athletes around me who have experienced the same benefits.

Afterwards, I identified that the beneficial aspects of Pilates were surely related to the work on the deep muscles (specific to the gestures but also responsible for the sheathing) as well as on the improvement of the hemicorporal balance and proprioception.

I can therefore only recommend Pilates as a tool of progression for any competitor or leisure enthusiast who would like to improve their practice.

This method is an excellent complement to other physical activities. Better concentration (important for top sportsmen and women during decisive games in particular), better precision of movement (Tiger Woods has the best swing in golf), better control (David Beckham), more fluidity in movement (Roger Federer. Fluidity of movement), deeper breathing and strengthening of deep muscles. 

 

Pilates has the power to be universal, it will help you to improve your performance in a pure, simple and authentic way.

Pilates is for all competitive athletes. Marathon runners, Ironman, Triathletes, competitive swimmers...

All these athletes have specific needs in relation to their sport, their specificity and their body. These are assessed during each practice and readapted every week.
