Pilates reduces stress!

Pilates is an excellent way to combat stress.

As the exercises are performed, the muscles relax and the mind and body become one, resulting in a feeling of well-being and deep relaxation.

Thoracic breathing allows you to open your thorax correctly, to release the pressure on your sternum and on the diaphragm (The diaphragm is the main respiratory muscle. Together with the intercostal muscles, it ensures the mechanics of breathing by alternating inhalation and exhalation movements).

Anecdote

In human anatomy, the word diaphragm is also used to refer to the iris of the eye. The iris controls the amount of light that enters the eye. This function has led to it being compared to the diaphragm of a camera.

All the exercises are based on breathing and as a result, each person relaxes to the point of yawning (when you yawn during a Pilates session, it means that you are taking ownership of the method. I insist that Pilates adapts to the person and not the other way round!

The breathing during the practice is very slow. Breathing slowly will, on the one hand, disconnect us from our daily life and breathing, and on the other hand, lower our heart rate. Relaxing the muscles also takes away muscle tension.

In Pilates, we focus on ourselves, on our feelings. All these elements will be factors of appeasement. We take care of ourselves throughout the session.
